Andy McEwing -Service Provider

Jamie Bachoo- Manager and Designated Child Protection Officer Kilmacolm/Port Glasgow

Julie Spence- Childcare Practitioner Port Glasgow

Angela Duncan – Childcare practitioner Port Glasgow

Robert Kerr – Childcare practitioner and Designated Child Protection Officer Port Glasgow

Unfortunately, Gillian and Michelle are leaving us to move onto full time work and we wish them all the best for the future, they will be missed.

Google reviews

We would be grateful if you can find time to go onto Google and leave BASK a review, it would be great to be able to share the excellent survey results in public.

Activities

As always, there have been many things happening at BASK: plenty of art and craft which the children love, games, books, x box, switch, loads of free playtime which the children love.

Free play encourages great social interaction and personal development.  Lego continues to be very popular, and of course we get them outside as much as we possibly can.

Circle time will be on once every week; we use this time to gather information from the children about what new activities they would like to see at BASK and to receive new snack suggestions.

Our sensory corner has had a complete makeover, we have bought ear defenders, pop up tents, dim lighting and many other sensory items which all have been very well received by the children.

We have recently purchased our own silent disco headphones and will be rotating them between dance music, Disney Music, children’s stories and relaxation music

Dates for Diary/Watch out for

We will be running Burns Night celebrations, Chinese new year celebrations,  Valentines day activities etc

Watch out for Postbox, Gratitude jar and parents board, all coming soon.

Post box is for children to post ideas for activities, food etc

Gratitude Jar is for children to post things they are grateful for

Welcome and Farewell board, where children can say or touch an icon on the board. Wave, shake hands, salute, dance, fist pump, or hug with staff.

Reward system where the kids can get mini certificates for certain aspects such as being a good friend, tidying up, good achievements, etc etc.  A star then gets added to their name and once they reach 3 stars they will get a reward.

Weekly Board game competitions. We are holding these currently, our current champion on Dobble is Logan.

Lost Property

We have quite a few items of lost property, can we ask if you are missing anything let us know and we can look through the box. It would be really helpful if everything is labelled- makes life easier to find things.

Outside Play

As the weather continues to be cold we will be outside as much as possible, please remember to send your child in with warm clothing, hats, gloves, scarves and a coat.

Old T-Shirts

For the children can you send in any old T shirts please that the children can wear during crafting and painting activities to keep their uniforms clean.

Survey

The last survey we sent out had just under a 50% reply rate.

Surveys while time consuming are very important for us to gauge how we are doing and what we can do to improve for the children. I urge you to please complete these surveys when they are emailed out to you.

Social Media

We will be starting a Facebook Page, Bask in Port Glasgow, it is a private and protected group and only accessible to BASK approved members.  If your child attends BASK you can request to join our group and we will add you; the group is a great way of keeping up with what we are doing at BASK.

Training

All of our staff are now first aiders and have completed the paediatric first aid course.

Our Managers have all been through Designated Child Protection officer courses

Inverclyde council ran a course for us on bespoke training for children with additional needs

Attendance

Can you please keep us advised if your child will not be attending after school care. It is vitally important that we know your child won’t be coming to us so we are not spending time looking for them. Call or message 07774479231 or email to advise.

We do keep an attendance record as we currently have a waiting list for the service.

If your circumstances change and you don’t need them anymore please let us know so we can offer the spaces to other families.

BASK Opening Times

Port Glasgow is from 2.45pm – 6pm

We do appreciate that sometimes parents can be held up at the end of the day due to unforeseen circumstances and we would ask that you let us know if you are running late, if possible.  If we have not heard from you by 6.10pm, the staff will start phoning round to find out what has happened and who will be collecting children using the contact details and emergency contacts that you have provided in the children’s files.

As always, please do not hesitate to speak to me if I can help you in any way whilst your child/ren are with BASK- for any enquiries about spaces or information about the service please contact me on 07774479231 or email bask730936@gmail.com
